Hypnotherapist Puts Poker Players in the Zone
A hypnotherapist from the English city of Leeds has found a windfall in the current poker craze. During her nearly 10 years in practice, 51-year-old Rosemary Owen has focused mainly on helping people kick nasty habits, phobias, etc. Thanks to the increased interest in all things poker, however, Owen is now using hypnosis to help train people to be better poker players as well. Among the skills Owen teaches her clients is how to blank out, i.e., to remove any trace of emotion from the face. She also helps players strike negative thoughts from the mind, in favor of positive thinking and intense concentration. Owen encourages different techniques for individual players. For example, she is helping one player develop an sneaky-looking eyebrow raise to throw off opponents. Owen's clients have cited her techniques for significantly improving their game and increasing their bankroll.
