Pregnant Poker Player Abandons Kids for Sake of the Game
A pregnant woman from the Pacific island of Saipan was arrested earlier this week after allegedly leaving her minor children home alone in favor of going to play poker. This comes less than a year after the woman, Lincy C. Santos, was convicted and sentenced for similarly neglecting her children to go play poker. The current arrest reportedly marks her fourth such apprehension on similar charges. Superior Court Associate Judge Ramona Villagomez Manglona, who presided over yesterday's bail hearing, decided against instituting a bail in light of Santos' advanced stage of pregnancy. Nonetheless, Manglona did impose a curfew and demanded that Santos keep out of poker parlors. According to the charges, Santos allegedly left her three children alone at home while she went to play poker in a local arcade. Neighbors claimed that they noticed that Santos had been absent for five hours. Soon thereafter, police found her playing poker in the city of San Jose.
