Class President Bank Robber Undergoes Treatment for Online Poker Addiction
Greg Hogan, the former university class president who, in December, allegedly robbed a bank to cover his poker losses, is now undergoing treatment for compulsive gambling. Hogan, who was a student at the time at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, made off with $2,871 after leading bank employees to believe that he was armed. Just a few hours passed before police came looking for Hogan at his fraternity house. After Hogan was arrested on suspicion of robbery, his lawyer, John Waldron, stated that Hogan perpetrated the crime after losing $5,000 playing poker online. With over a month remaining until his arraignment, Hogan is using the time to deal with his reported poker addiction. He is currently in the middle of a 36-day stay in a mental health facility that deals specifically with gambling problems. On March 6, Hogan will appear before District Judge Carl Balliet for his preliminary hearing.
