Online poker site PokerRoom.com recently announced that according to PokerPulse.com, the site is officially the third largest poker room on the net, boasting a player base of over four million. PokerPulse is a site that researches the online poker industry.

It's not news that the online poker industry as a whole has positively mushroomed, currently comprising a $2 billion market. What is astounding, however, is that in the past year, PokerRoom has grown more that twice as fast as the industry itself.

PokerRoom launched in 1999, before online poker hit the mainstream. In the increasingly competitive online poker market, PokerRoom has stayed ahead by constantly seeking out ways to set itself apart from other operators. One of the more momentous examples of this happened in April of this year, when PokerRoom became the first online poker site to launch real money mobile poker gaming.
