Online Poker is Next for GWIN and Casino Software Provider Live Cast Media
Online sports handicapping company GWIN Inc. recently announced plans to take on the online poker industry. GWIN inked a letter of intent with online casino software provider Live Cast Media, enlisting the latter to provide its online poker turnkey software solution. GWIN plans to launch two online poker sites, WARPoker.com and WARPoker.net, WAR being an acronym for Wayne Allen Root, GWIN's flagship brand. WARPoker.com will be a real money online poker site, open to international player markets, including Asia and Europe, but will exclude U.S. players, due to the iffy legal status of online casino gaming in the U.S. GWIN's second planned site, WARPoker.net will offer online poker games in the non-rake model permitted by many jurisdictions in the United States. Regarding the company's transition into online poker, GWIN Chairman Wayne Root said, "It is clear that many, if not most of my sports gambling audience have become poker players -- whether serious or just for fun. I believe that my name and brand can have an impact on poker with a payoff as large, or even larger than it has for sports handicapping advice. GWIN is in the perfect position to capitalize on the success of poker, because of the large number of sports gamblers who are poker players and already familiar with the WAR name."
