Online Poker Qualifiers Finish in the Money at WPT Championship
In recent years, the poker tournament circuit has been overrun by talented unknowns, thanks to online qualifying tournaments. Last week's World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship was indeed no exception. The championship took place between April 18th and 24th. Two online casino companies, Bodog.com and Las Vegas From Home.com Entertainment Inc. (which controls online casino site tigergaming.com), recently announced that a number of their online qualifiers finished the tournament in the money. Bodog's online qualifier John Cook finished 94th, winning $30,000. Another impressive accomplishment under Cook's belt is that he succeeded in knocking out two-time world champion Johnny Chan on day 2. Regarding Las Vegas From Home.com Entertainment Inc., its flagship site, tigergaming.com had two out of its five online qualifiers finish in the money. Brad Wyatt finished in 38th place, taking home $47,180 and Bernie Collins finished 44th, winning $37,740.
