Racecar Pros Compete at the Poker Table
Stars of race car driving came together with poker stars for two days of Vegas Texas hold'em. Twelve NASCAR drivers convened at the Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for the Michael Waltrip Invitational Poker Tournament. Poker stars including "Jesus" Ferguson, Phil Gordon, and Robert Williamson III stood by to lend a helping hand and a word of poker wisdom here and there. The participating drivers, Michael Waltrip, Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, Dale Jarrett, Elliot Sadler, Jeff Gordon, Jimmy Johnson, Brian Vickers, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Casey Mears, Kyle Petty, and Benny Parsons were split into two groups for no-limit Texas hold'em. Tony Stewart walked away with the championship title and the top prize of $100,000, half of which to be donated to the charity of his choice, the other half to go to the Victory Junction Gang Camp. Stewart chose to give the first $50K to the Ronald McDonald House. A Broadcast of the tournament is scheduled to air on the Speed Channel.
