Online poker landscape is experiencing a downfall - USA
Online poker market in the US remains nothing but the shadow of its glorious past after its brutal cessation in 2011. The reopening of the market in 2013 in three States including Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware, has revived hope that e-poker would reclaim its yesteryear surge; however, everything seems to go wrong and that the other States are still reluctant to embrace their own regulated e-poker market. Friday, November 14, the first poker room operated by the American operator Ultimate Gaming announced it withdrew from Nevadas gambling landscape. Two months earlier, the said poker room jumped out of New Jerseys legal online poker market and put an end to its partnership with Atlantic City-based Trump Taj Mahal Casino after the latter had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Ultimate Poker has been in the poker business for 19 months.
According to Ultimate Gaming President Tom Breitling, the profitability of online poker in Nevada has not met what the room expected, and the lack of regulation at the federal level made the operation more difficult. Just like Nevada State, New Jersey is also experiencing difficulty. Its online poker market shrank to its all-time low in October 2014 according to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. For the first time since the market opened in November 2013, NJs e-poker turnover generates about $ 2 million maximum. To revitalize the sector, building a liquidity-sharing network is inevitable for any state where online poker is regulated, gambling-analysts recommended.
