Anthony Zinno sealed a second WPT title win - WPT Fallsview Poker Classic 2015
Anthony Zinno captured his second WPT title by winning the World Poker Tour (WPT) Fallsview Poker Classic 2015 Main Event of $ 5,000 buy-in at Niagara Falls Casino. Anthony Zinno started the final day as a chipleader; he secured the lead until the ultimate hand. This is actually his second big victory in the WPT poker circuit, the first being at Borgata in 2013. The American poker pro cashed CAD 399,579 (approximately USD 252,420) of prize as he crushed a number of high-profile opponents including Mark Bailey, Corey Hochman, David Cloutier, Jeremy Halaska, Erik Cajelais, Emanuele Carpignano, Henry Tran and Lu Zhang. In addition to the top prize, Anthony Zinno was also awarded 1,440 Card Player POY points; he is now ranked 9th place in the Player Of the Year standings.
Armed with 4.73 million in chips, Zinno entered the ultimate battle with great confidence. After only 70 hands, the scenario was set for the heads-up. Lu Zhang headed to exit first as he fell to 9th place for $ 24,007. Then he was joined by Henry Tran (8th, $ 32,009), Emanuele Carpignano (7th, $ 40,130), Erik Cajelais (6th, $ 48,133), Jeremy Halaska (5th, $ 60,076 ), David Cloutier (4th, $ 80,022) and Corey Hochman (3rd, $ 108,209), leaving the title-race to Anthony Zinno and Mark Bailey. The face-to-face battle saw 75 poker hands played. Chipleader Zinno possessed more than a 2-to-1 chip advantage at the start of the final, and gradually cruised to a 6.5-to-1 chip lead over his opponent. Despite a surprising comeback atop the chip count, Mark Bailey eventually fell to 2nd place. As a runner-up, the poker tournament awarded him $ 168,285 of consolation prize, plus 1,200 Card Player POY points.
