Georgios Zisimopoulos as chipleader at the end of Day 1B - EPT London Main Event
The London stage of the European Poker Tour (EPT) has been a success in terms of attendance. The Day 1A recorded 140 entries while the EPT Main Event Day 1B seduced 440 players on Monday, bringing the total field to 580 players. Thus, the EPT London 2014 has broken the attendance record of the last three years. This record-breaking field is probably the fruit of a reduced buy-in to £ 4,000 from £ 5,000, a fruitful decision made by the organizers to arouse attractiveness to the circuit. The festivity is hosted in the poker room of the Grand Connaught Rooms, featuring eight 75-minute levels of play; the end of Day 1B flight saw 280 survivors. Georgios Zisimopoulos secured chip leader with a nice stack of 171,500 chips.
Players who wrapped the day up with more than 110,000 chips include Leo Nordin (169,100), Nicolas Chouity (152,700), Bertrand "ElkY" Gropellier (147,900), Pablo Gordillo (145,000), Frederik Jensen (124,000), Christopher Swaminathan (121,600), Victoria Coren Mitchell (115,000), Marco Caza (114,000) and Steven Watts (111,000). A number of poker stars also heads to Day 2 battle with a comfortable stack; the panel includes the two-time EPT winner Victoria Coren Mitchell, 2010 EPT San Remo champion Liv Boeree, Ole Schemion, Theo Jorgensen, Vicente Delgado, Marc-Andre Ladouceur, Mickey Petersen and Jennifer Shahade. Notables who failed to qualify for Day 2 battle include the winner of the £ 2,000 UKIPT High Roller poker tournament Olivier Busquet, Dave Ulliott, David Peters, Ludovic Geilich, Griffin Benger, Philipp Gruissem, Bryn Kenney, Tom Middleton and Martin Finger.
