India: The law on online poker requires a reform
Indian people are real fanatics of gambling; which has incited numerous operators to open websites of online gambling in India. However, the latter risk committing a crime, given that the law which governs the market of online gambling in the country remains fuzzy. According to Praveen Dalal, a partner of the firm Perry4law of New Delhi, specialist of data-processing law, the legality of a room of online poker depends on its domain name and its organization mode. That causes a vast confusion within operators and authorities. Recently, the Mumbai crime branch has dismantled websites of gambling which operated illegally. Numerous other gambling websites could also know the same fate for a reason of non conformity to Indian laws.
The implementation of a platform of regulation of online gambling, which will take into account the sharing of operating license, is a priori necessary to avoid these problems. Numerous other countries should also intend to implement this reform. It is effectively important to say that the current trends of regulating online gambling are far to be encouraging; whether it is for operators or players. In the United States for example, the opening of the market of online poker in the federal level still remains uncertain. Some operators have thus given up the idea to invest on legal markets like those of New Jersey and Delaware because of economic insecurity. In Singapore, a law decreeing the prohibition to online gaming is in preparation.
