Daniel Negreanu Mentoring Opportunity up for Grabs for Online Poker Tournament Winner

Daniel Negreanu, one of the best known and most accessible professional poker players around, announced last night that he was in search of a protege upon whom to lay his pearls of poker wisdom. The protege search is part of a promotion launched jointly by Negreanu and online poker room www.fullcontactpoker.com.

The protege opportunity will be offered on a four to five-month basis, with a new protege being named at the end of every mentoring period. Since not just anyone can learn one-on-one with the pros, the protege opportunity will be awarded to the winner of a four-month-long qualifying tournament.

Among other benefits, the protege prize includes four $10,000 buy-ins for major poker tournaments, personal e-mail correspondence with Negreanu himself and invites to exclusive poker shindigs. The Daniel Negreanu Protege Contest will run through April of the coming year.

Regarding his involvement in the initiative, Negreanu said that the protege contest is an opportunity for him to “give back to poker fans and to elevate the poker experience to a new level for amateur players." Not discrediting the usefulness of everyday poker resources, Negreanu said, “I wanted to take amateurs to a new level. The protege program will give the amateur player a learning experience like no other."
