The opening of the Cherokee Casino And Hotel will boost employment - Oklahoma
After months of waiting, casino games enthusiasts from the State of Oklahoma will play in a new facility. Indeed, Cherokee Casino and Hotel opened finally its doors to the public last Tuesday after months of construction. Located on the Cherokee Boulevard in Roland, the casino has replaced another casino that was opened since 1990. An investment of $ 80 million enabled the operator to offer a casino with table games and slot machines. In all, Cherokee Casino and Hotel offers 850 electronic games, 120 rooms, a conference room and two different restaurants having each their theme.
The facility will enter into competition with the Choctaw Casino Hotel in Pocola. In addition to providing additional income to the municipality and the State coffers, the opening of the Cherokee Casino and Hotel has created over 100 jobs in the region. According to Roland Mayor, Monty Lenington, job creation is needed in the region. Moreover, salaries offered by these gambling facilities are well above the minimum wage, not to mention the other benefits enjoyed by employees. The opening of the casino will revive the economy of the region and the labor market after the closure of several factories in recent years. Note that 35% of casino profits go back to the tribe that operates the casino, 5% will be dedicated to health, and the rest will be allocated to economic development and reinvestment in job creation.
