Tommy Hangs victory over Jim Collopy - $ 1,500 HORSE Event
Tommy Hang won the $ 1,500 HORSE Event of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) following his five paid places in the same event in 2008. The Washington-native player won his first WSOP by topping a field of 743 players. Note that this 34 years-old player had also finished runner-up in this poker tournament in 2008 and ranked 12th in the $ 10,000 HORSE last week. In fact, Tommy Hang is a regular participant in the World Series Of Poker. And this victory adds other $ 230,744 in his overall earnings in his career ($ 1.4 million), along with 912 points won in Card Player of the Year. Hang is now at his 25th win in the WSOP including 10 in Mixed Games tournament.
The final table reunited 9 players. David Baker was the first one to head for the door for $ 19,338 of win. Steward Yancik was the next eliminated player. His 7th position has allowed him to pocket $ 25,668. Chris George occupied the 6th place for $ 34,725, followed by Joseph Villella ( $ 47,905) and Brandon Guss (5th, $ 67,435). Tommy Hang eventually eliminated the three remaining survivors to seize the victory. Brandon Guss finished 4th and won $ 67,435. The elimination of Kristan Lord ($ 96,894) paved the way for Jim Collopy to face Tommy Hang in the Heads-up clash. But the 2013 WSOP Asian Pacific -PLO bracelet winner entered the Heads-up with 2-to-1 chip delay, such a gap which got deepened to 6-to-1 chip before the last hand. Jim Collopy could nothing but settled with $ 142,533 for his second place in this poker event.
