OM Poker Cup: Christian Ibanez, the first champion
The final of OM Poker Cup, the first ever live poker tournament "Made in Marseille" dedicated to fans of the club was held Sunday, December 19, 2010 in the VIP lounges of the stadium Stade Velodrome. This event was held on the sidelines of the clash meeting of the Ligue 1 between Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais. This final meeting is a logical extension of the online qualifying series, which attracted some 30,000 players at first, but only 25 of them reached the finals of the first edition of this tournament in Marseille. The countdown has begun for the 25 football fans but also finalists of the OM Poker Cup after the end of the match between the two Olympics. All eyes were riveted in the VIP lounges of the Stade Velodrome to follow this final, but especially to know who will be the three amateur players who will compose the team of supporters of OM for the next European Poker Tour Deauville.
Besides the fans of Olympique de Marseille, this poker tournament offering a prizepool of approximately 20,000 saw the participation of legends of the club such as Jean-Pierre Papin, Manuel Amoros, Sebastian Perez or Johnny Ecker who weren't unfortunately the winners of this first episode full of surprises. But the famous trio's winning team in the ranking is formed respectively by Christian Ibanez, "the official OM poker player" who won the first prize which is a package to the EPT Deauville Main Event of 10,000. Similarly, Isam Segaya and Yohann Martinez were each entitled of a package of 5,000 for a side event of the EPT Deauville.
