The latest proposal is dated last Wednesday with John Payne, member of Pennsylvania House of Representatives, introducing the “House Bill 649”. France’s online gambling regulator ARJEL (Autorité de Régulation des Jeux En Ligne) has recently brought back the liquidity sharing initiative on the table of discussion. Many would argue that the fact that France has always kept its poker market ring-fenced is one of the toughest blocks preventing its poker industry from thriving in recent years. Thus, liquidity sharing agreement with other European countries is the only way to give a boost to France’s online poker industry. However, a pretty modest number of legislators discarded this encouraging initiative during a parliament session held in March 2014. As for ARJEL President “Charles Coppolani”, he shows a strong commitment for a shared players-pools with Spain and Italy. The process is apparently moving apace especially thanks to the support of the UMP’s Dino Cinieri on Amendment No. 1658 on January 30th (2015).

The EPT even decided not to make a stop in Deauville the following season. In 2009, the two gambling giants joined hands again to relaunch the event which has almost become routine for poker enthusiasts in France since then.

Liquidity sharing among EU member states’ online poker market has always been brought on the table of discussion in recent years. However, the real action is still far from being undertaken. While the EU poker community hoped for a sustainable solution to this matter with the ICE Totally Gaming convention held in London from Thursday February 3 to 5, the said liquidity sharing agreement is still immerged in uncertainty. “Harrie Temmink”, the Deputy Director of the Online and Postal Services Unit, part of the Internal Market and Services Directorate-General, emphasized fruitful collaboration between regulators and the exchange of information in this ICE Totally Gaming conference.
