IPT San Remo: Towards a second title of Kovalchuk

The start of the tournament Italian Poker Tour (IPT) San Remo was held on last Friday, January 27 in the poker room of San Remo casino. The € 2,200 buy-in event was attended by a total field of 248 players, generating a prizepool of € 675,000. After the first day of competition, it remains only 166 competitors. The Day 2 started on Saturday, January 28. Chipleader of the Day 1A, the Ukranian Oleksii Kovalchuk dominated the second day of competition. Thus, he still maintain his position as chipleader with 850,000 chips in hand. At this rhythm, Kovalchuk is on the way to achieve a double and win his second title at this Italian tournament.

Indeed, this Ukrainian player has already won the title of the ITP Nova Gorica in 2011, which earned him a great reward of € 150,000. Note that the talent of the Ukrainian is not unknown by fans of poker. He has already demonstrated his skills to play at the Partouche Poker Tour 2011 by being qualified as finalist. He is also world champion of the event No Limit Hold'em Six-Handed organized within the framework of the World Series of Poker 2011(WSOP) and finished 10th at the Pot Limit Omaha of the WSOP Europe 2011. If he can achieve this double, a prize of € 175,000 will embellish his account. However, a tough battle is still expected because many well-known players like Dario Minieri and Salvatore Bonavena are still in the running for the third day of competition. In the other side, Luca Pagano, Carla Solinas and Niccolò Caramatti are already eliminated. As for French players, Paul Testud will be also back for Day 3 with 28,100 chips in hand.
