Aussie Millions 2012: Review of the first week

The edition 2012 of the Aussie Millions tournament began last week. This is the biggest poker event in the southern hemisphere that brings together amateurs and professionals in the poker room of Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia. Of the 26 events scheduled to take place during this poker festival, three have already announced their results. Indeed, the inaugural tournament of AUD $ 1,100 which brought together 945 participants have already crowned its winner in the person of Brendon Rubie. Champion of a side event of the Asian Pacific Poker Tour 2008, Rubie pocketed AUD $ 200,000 with his achievement. The Pot Limit Omaha tournament of AUD $ 1,100 also elected Dan Kelly as champion. This online poker pro triumphed face to a field of 129 participants and succeeded to eliminate giants of the game at national and international level as Van Marcus who finished 3rd, McLean Karr (6th) or Billy Argyros (8th). As champion, Dan Kelly pocketed $ 34,384.

The $ 1,100 NLHE Shootout event is also already played. It was Sandeep Pulusani who won the victory over the local player Oliver Speidel. The American pocketed then the first prize of $ 39,092. Currently, the survivors of the 158 competitors in the starting field of the event 4 are still in action to elect the finalists. Among the favorites vying for the final, there is James Dempsey, Jim Collopy, Sam Holden, Joseph Cheong or Dan Kelly. It is the same about the event 5 of $ 1,100 with a field of 385 players. But the public of Crown casino will still attend exceptional tournaments in the coming days as the Tournament of Champions, the main event and the two Super High-Roller tournaments of $ 100,000 and $ 250,000 buy-in.
