The World Poker Tour Jacksonville (WPT) began last Friday, November 18 with 393 registered players at the end of Day 1 of the $ 3,500 buy-in Main Event. The Day 1A saw the participation of 188 players while Day 1B gathered more participants : 205 players. This number of participants generated a prize pool of $ 1,277,250 shared by the top 40 players who acceded the money list. Of the 393 entrants of the first day divided into two stages, only 168 players had their chance to continue the adventure and claim the title and $ 325,928 reserved for the winner. The first entry in this Main Event of the WPT in Jacksonville was marked by the elimination of the American Jason Mercier. And to everyone's surprise, this player didn't joined the Orange Park Kennel Club on Saturday for Day 1B. At the end of the day, Tommy Vedes takes the chip lead, pocketing 209,200 chips.

While players like Matthew Jarvis, Eli Gomex, Shaun Deeb, Imari Love, David Pham, Barry Wiedemann, Michael Swimelar, Nick Grippo, Dann Turner, John Racener, Raj Vohra, Jared Jaffee or Kia Mohajeri finished the day with more than 100,000 chips, it was not the case for Will Failla, Byron Kaverman, David Tran, Andy Frankenberger, Lee Markholt, Allen Kessler and Darus Suharto who were eliminated after a few levels of play. At the end of Day 2, only 27 players will be selected for the third day of this poker tournament.
