Income tax: Professional poker players in France would pay it soon

Taxation of online poker could, by the end of the year, know for the first time a tax return and payment of income tax for French poker players. Indeed, paying taxes according to his poker winnings is certainly what French 'professional' poker players should do if we read the formal assessment report of the Government through which the Minister of Budget, Valérie Pécresse, said clearly her intention to impose professional poker players on their income from poker. This report which was revised could for the first time ask professional players in France to pay income tax. The regulation of gambling did not mention the tax on these players but with this new legislation which will replace the one created in July 2011, will certainly brought a great change in the world of online poker.

The government, about this issue considered that the notion of luck in games is erased when players can use their expertise and their ability to make gaming a real source of income. It means that professional players who earn thousands of dollars on poker will be probably taxable and have to pay taxes on earnings. This future regulation wouldn't certainly please to players, but the question is how to know the income threshold to qualify a player player as a professional and how to distinguish a professional player with an amateur?
