Caesars Cup 2011: The two teams are ready

The WSOP Europe currently taking place in Cannes is the rendezvous of all the world's best players. Besides the main event and side events, the WSOPE Cannes will receive from Wednesday, October 19 the Caesars Cup that promises to be a real war of titans with the confrontation between the European and American teams. The poker event will begin with a No Limit Hold'em event during which each team will try to gather the maximum points. The day will continue with a series of Head's up and the team that accumulates the most points will win the title of the Caesars Cup 2011. To defend the color of the European poker, Bertrand Grospellier, the captain of the European team chose the Danish Gus Hansen, the British Jake Cody, the Russian Maxim Lykov and the Italian Dario Minieri.

While the European team is tied up since a few weeks, the North American team has just registered a last minute change following the withdrawal of Huck Seed and Doyle Brunson (10 WSOP bracelets). To replace the two players, the captain of the U.S. team, Phil Hellmuth, opted for the service of Ben Lamb, the No. 1 in the ranking of the WSOP Players 2011 and Jason Mercier (2 WSOP bracelets, an EPT title and specialist of High Roller tournaments). The choice of Ben Lamb to join the team is not a real surprise because of his performance in tournament and his designation as the WSOP Player of the Year who is just ahead Phil Hellmuth in the ranking. Alongside these three players, there are Johnny Chan and Daniel Negreanu.
