Online games: Soon legalized in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein

The regulation of online gambling including online poker is finally established in the State of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Until now, passionate of gambling in this region of Angela Merkel's country complied with strict regulations enforced by the federal government. And according to statistics, 2,200 players go on sites in Europe and offshore to indulge in their passion. This new law will be applied from January 2012 and will bring a big change and innovation in the country. Note that Schleswig-Holstein is the only federal State to have voted overwhelmingly for the opening of the market for online gambling, a market which will generate an annual profit of € 60 million. And observers wait to see whether the 15 other states will follow the example of Schleswig-Holstein which will significantly improve the tax revenue of the country.

So in a few months, German players can participate legally in online sports betting and play poker on the internet because with this new law, many operators can apply for a license and can expect to win a part of the German market. In addition, some online gambling sites known on the European market have already shown their enthusiasm. The State will receive 20% tax on the gross revenue of the game. The legalization of online gambling in Germany is also expected to create 2,000 jobs. However, this new law would be threatened if the socialist SPD and the Greens won the election in 2012. The two sides are almost against the adoption of this bill, which took place last Wednesday.
