WSOPE: The Caesars Cup is back!

Organized for the first time in 2009, the Caesars Cup was the biggest poker event. This competition brought together the best poker players in Europe and in America. Based on the same principle as the famous Ryder Cup in Golf, the Caesars Cup is a team competition between European team and U.S. team, both consisting of five players and the team that wins three sets on five games will be designated as the winner of the competition. The first edition of the Caesars Cup was held in London at the WSOPE, meeting during which the European team led by Annette Obrestad tried to stand up to the American team of Daniel Negreanu composed of talented players like Phil Hellmuth or the poker's legend Doyle Brunson. The American team won easily the competition by winning a series of 4 to 1.

For this year 2011, the Caesars Cup will make its comeback at the WSOPE on October 7 to 20 in Cannes, at the Hotel Majestic Barrière and the poker room of the Casino Barrière. The European team will be this time led by the French Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier against an American team of Phil Hellmuth. At the moment, no information was disclosed on the composition of both teams but on the American side, we can expect that Phil Hellmuth will involve talented players such as Jason Mercier, Ben Lamb and Erik Seidel to strengthen the team. As for Europe, the French "Triple Crown" could seek the service of the German Max Heinzelmann, the Russian Max Lykov, the English Chris Moorman and the former captain Annette Obrestad.
