EPT Barcelona: A real success for the edition 2011

If last year, the stage of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Barcelona brought together a field of 758 players, this year, there were 811 players who registered for the tournament with € 5,300 buy-in. This edition 2011 accumulated a huge success. And as usual, the big community of poker stars invaded the poker room of the Gran Casino Barcelona. Indeed, during the first qualifying day, well known players as Theo Jorgensen, Alex Kravchenko, Lex Veldhuis, Annette Obrestad, Vanessa Selbst or Andre Akkari were identified among the registrants. If Vanessa Selbst took control of the first few levels of play, Sam El Sayed was ranked among the top of the list of 210 survivors of Day 2 with Martin Schleich at the place of chipleader. But the public also saw some of their favorite players eliminated early as Bruno Launais, Michel Abecassis, Pierre Neuville, Sandra Naujocks or Basile Yaiche.

On Day 1B, other great players like Daniel Negreanu and Bertrand Grospellier were also seen. Unfortunately, they won't be part of the field of the Day 2. By cons, Jason Mercier, Arnaud Mattern, Eugene Katchalov, Leo Fernandez and Jonathan Dumahel will be very present to contest the rest of the competition. And to the delight of poker enthusiasts from France, Guillaume Darcourt, former member of the team Poker 770 will be back on Day 2 as chip leader with 195,300 chips in hand. Note that 400 players were qualified for the day 2.
