APPT Melbourne: Leo Boxell as final champion

Despite the enormous advantage in chips accumulated by Philip Willcocks at the beginning of the final day of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour Melbourne (APPT), Leo Boxell ended the tournament by picking up the coronation. With this well deserved victory, Boxell confirmed his status as an Australian professional poker because he is effectively ranked in the first position of Player of the Year. Note that he shone in many events in recent years and with the award of AUD $ 330,000 he comes to pocket, he had currently more than $ 1 million gain. The final table of this inaugural stage of the APPT was however hectic as each competitor was in a good position to win. But after the clash that lasted about nine hours, Leo Boxell was ultimately the best.

The champion however congratulate his opponent, Phillip Willcocks after the final head's up. Indeed, the young New Zealanders of 28 years old has shown great skill in this competition. He attracted the public's attention in the poker room of Crown Casino because he managed to be at the top of the list during the first three qualifying days. And despite he missed the trophy, he was entitled to the second place on the podium with a magnificent win of $ 207,600. Steve Bouya is in the third place and he pocketed the prize of $ 116,000 for his performance. The two stars present at the final table, Van Marcus and Julius Colman, finished respectively in the 5th and 9th place.
