WSOP: A better harvest this year for French players

The 42nd edition of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) will end soon. It took about two months of games for the followers of this card game to finish the 58 tournaments of this World Series of Poker 2011. It is no longer to precise that the WSOP 2011 was a success on all levels not to mention that this latest edition breaks all records of all those that precede it. But this new appointment in Las Vegas of this year is also to mark a milestone for the French poker community.

While previous editions that followed have only designated five French players as holders of the World Series bracelets who were Claude Cohen in 1997, Gilbert Gross and Patrick Bruel in 1998, David Benyamine in 2008 and Vanessa Hellebuyck in 2010, this new harvest was very good for players from France. So far, the number of French holders of the prestigious bracelets, equivalent to a title of world champion is eight. Thus, the first player to win the gold jewelry this year was Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier in the $ 10,000 Card Stud. He was followed by the young Elie Payan for his victory in the 22nd Event Pot-Limit Omaha. There was also Antonin Teisseire in the $ 5,000 NLHE Triple Chance, Fabrice Soulier in the $ 10,000 HORSE Championship and the four other success of French players on the sidelines of the 42nd World Series of Poker. In short, the WSOP 2011 has been successful and will remain engraved in the minds of French poker community.
