Club des Clubs: Ten times more affiliates in four years
With the internationally excellent image of poker, the French poker world is also in perfect health. Indeed, according to figures released by the membership campaign of the Club des Clubs 2011, alongside its four years of existence, this French national association has seen a sharp increase. Thus, from only 20 poker clubs in its beginning in 2007, the CDC now has 212 clubs as official members by respectively recording 50, 110 and 160 legal membership in previous years 2008, 2009 and 2010. For this year 2011, the national association of French poker associative lists some 12,000 players in addition to 85,000 fans of the discipline.
But the Club des Club does not want to stay there. It has to do more for the greater good of poker and poker amateur associations in general. Thus, the priority of its actions will turn in the revision of the French law about online gambling. This initiative is not fortuitous as several issues should to be clarified such as the security players' deposits, the opening of the poker market, the choice of mediators responsible in the case of dispute between players and operators, the decrease of the rake of operators or the exploitation of new variants of poker. Moreover, the list of actions of the Club des Clubs for the development of associative poker in particular and amateur poker in general is not exhaustive.
