WSOP: An increase of the turnout until here

Despite the potential negative effects that the Black Friday bring in the market of online poker in the U.S.A, the results of the first 16 tournaments played so far at the World Series of Poker 2011 (WSOP) reveal a very positive result. Even if there is still 42 tournaments to play in these World Series, some increase in the rate of influx has already been registered so far compared to the year 2010. If the same number of tournaments registered 13,882 participants last year, for the 42nd edition of the WSOP, there were already 14,632 players who were registered at these meetings, or 750 more players or 5% increase.

However, the influx of players in various tournaments offered at Rio is not the same, some events registered indeed decreased of attendance and other a growth. The $ 1,500 NLHE Six Handed event has so far been the busiest and experienced the most growth until here. 1920 players were enrolled in this tournament which means 257 more players than in 2010. Because certainly of the increased of its buy-in, the $ 25,000 HU NLHE Championship, available for $ 10,000 last year recorded only 128 members against 190 poker players present a year earlier. Similarly, the $ 10,000 Pot Limit Hold'em also experienced a small drop in its attendance rate as 249 were there this year against 268 players in 2010. So even if the busiest online poker room in the U.S. market have been forced to close their doors, while some players bankroll haven't been repaid, live tournaments seem to maintain their good health.
