Lukas Berglund: Crowned as first champion of the new season of the WPT

The opening stage of the new season of the World Poker Tour (WPT) ended with an incredible victory of Lukas Berglund. Indeed, this young player of 18 years with a huge talent for playing poker had just won the first stage of the WPT of this new season, held on Spanish soil. From the beginning of the final table, Lukas Berglund, owner of the fourth biggest stack of the game, was the star of the poker room after knocking out two players who were Markus Ristola and Artur Koren in one fell swoop. The two eliminated were ranked respectively 8th and 7th. A few time later, Alexander Sidorin also suffered the same fate and settled for the 6th place. Then came the turn of Guillem Usero to exit the final table and finish 5th. Jorge Duffour tried to resist but did not take long, he came out at the 4th position.

The two French players Romain Matteoli and Frederick Bussoti were then the opponents of the young Lukas in the last phase of this final. If Bussoti had to settle for the third place, Matteoli could face the poker prodigy on the final heads'up. And nothing could prevent Berglund to win the majestic title of champion of the WPT Barcelona 2011 because the final duel was only played in a dozen hands. Thus, Matteoli finished as runner up and pocketed the bonus of € 118,000. The champion of the day by cons pocketed a tidy sum of € 238,000 and also had a ticket of $ 25,000 for the WPT Grand Final.
