ANZPT: Peter Matusik as champion of the Gold Coast step

It's not only on the Old Continent or in the country of Uncle Sam that poker tournaments have real success. Oceania also has famous tournaments, this was the case of the Australia New Zealand Tournament Poker Tour (ANZPT) Gold Coast, which ran from May 17 to 22. Indeed, the $ AUD 2,500 main event attracted 245 players and offered a sensational show to the public that invaded the poker room of the Jupiter Casino. The competition ended with the victory of Peter Matusik, a resident of the town of Raby Bay, Queensland. Even if the great champion began the day as chip leader but his route to the trophy has not been easy. As soon as Norah Greer and the ANZPT Queenstown champion 2010, Julian Cohen, were eliminated respectively at the 9th and 8th place, Leo Boxell knew a new life and climb to the place of chip leader. With his experience that earned him a second place in a stage of the Aussie Millions circuit and a title during the national meeting Australia & New Zealand, he was one of the favourite players in this final table.

Unfortunately, this was not the best day to play poker for him because Leo Boxell was eliminated at the fourth place after the elimination of Savvas Zenonos (7th), Blain Robertson (5th) and Paul Hockin (4th). After the exit of Boxell from the final table, Matusik was already quite close. He rose to the final duel between him and Anthony Grange, a native of New Caledonia because Bekhaled Kamel, was knocked out in the third place. And after a face to face rather hectic, Matusik finally won the trophy and the first prize of $ 145,100 while the runner up pocketed the second prize of $ 92,700.
