EPT Madrid Grand Finale: Ivan Freitez at the first position

The Season 7 of the European Poker Tour (EPT) ended with the award ceremony held at the poker room of Madrid Gran Casino; the title of Champion of the Grand Finale was awarded to Ivan Freitez. This finale stage of the tournament with a buy-in of € 10,000 and a prizepool of € 6,860,000 gathered 686 participants. It proved once again the greatness of the EPT in the Old Continent. Many professional poker players participated during this festival but anyone among them couldn’t reach the finale table. Therefore, some of them were qualified for the list of paid players like Bernard Trong Huy Vu, Eric Gambararo, Lucien Cohen who reached the 33rd position and Hugo Lemaire at the 20th position.

Most of international poker stars like Victor Ramdim, Ted Forrest, William Reynolds or Surinder Sunar have been eliminated sooner during this tournament. In this way, Alex Gomes and the Spanish player Juan Maceiras were the only renowned poker players present at the finale table. And as unknown players can win, too during this kind of tournament, the two poker stars all missed the victory and had to make do with the 7th and the 5th positions, respectively. Andrew Li, Eugene Yanait and Andrey Danilyuk have been at the 8th, 6th and 4th positions. By eliminating Tams Lendvai and placing him at the 3rd position with a small amount of € 550, 000, Ivan Freitez, for the first time in his life play poker to win and has been awarded a title of champion. It is about his first great victory allowing him to gain € 1,500,000. The title of runner-up of this tournament has been awarded to Torsten Brinkmann with a check of € 900,000.
