EPT Madrid: A low crowd for the first Spanish grand final

Players who survived for the final stage of the season 7 of the European Poker Tour Madrid are now inside the competition. Indeed, between the kickoff of Saturday, May 7th and the last day of Thursday, May 12, 2011, the number of survivors decreases gradually as the European tournament progress to the final and end of the competition. Moreover, it has been noted that the first final of the EPT on the Iberian Peninsula has registered a fall of the attendance rate of players, a decrease of about 20% compared to the appointment of Monte Carlo of last year. And this drop in attendance of players was already noticeable during the final stage of the EPT Monaco in the year 2009.

From 935 participants in the Grand Final of the European Poker Tour Monte Carlo in 2009, the number of players who participated in this prestigious European tournament for the year 2011 had fallen to 686, if there was 848 at the last event of 2010 in Monaco. This tournament in Madrid of € 10,600 buy-in that issue at the end of the route to the best of the competition a check for € 1.5 million, also registered a decrease of the number of American players who participate there. For observers specialized in the field of poker, this decrease in influx of players at the EPT Madrid can be explained by two main reasons : first, in the order of logic, is the change of the place. And the second reason of the drop in attendance of U.S. players, may be the result of the sad event that is the last Black Friday.
