EPT San Remo: Success of the € 2.200 side event

The Italian stage of the seventh season of the European Poker Tour (EPT) circuit ihad just ended. It was a successful event because a multitude players came to the poker room of San Remo casino to participate in the various events offered by the organizers. Besides the important influx of players during the main event, the € 2.200 buy-in side-event also accumulated the same success as 439 players registered there to participate in it. Some poker stars like Vanessa Selbst, Dmitry Stelmak, Mustapha Kanit, Vitaly Lunkin, Isaia Alesaio or Brito Fernando were among the competitors in this event.

Face to this important number of international poker stars, local players had some difficulties to defend the honor of their country because after the coronation of the British Rupert Elder at the main event, the trophy of this side event tournament was back in the hands of a French player, Gilbert Toutati who pocketed thanks to his victory a premium of € 250.000. And French players were also well represented during the IPT Pro League of € 3,300 buy-in because Benjamin Pollack was qualified for the final table. At the € 10,000 High Roller, this was the German Schafer Thorsen who ended as winner face to a field of 62 players and grabbed the first prize of € 220,000. Note that the EPT San Remo was the last stop of the circuit prior to the Grand Final to be held at the prestigious town of Cannes, host of the World Series of Poker Europe 2011.
