Dublin Irish Poker Open: A well deserved victory of Niall Smyth

It was during the morning of Tuesday, April 26 that the Irish Poker Open Tournament 2011 delivered its verdict. Note that the event took place in the poker room of Burlington Hotel in Dublin since last April 21. Another success story was recorded because 615 players were registered for the Main Event of € 3,500 generating a prize pool of € 1,968,000. And organizers awarded the top 64 players in the game. The tournament also attracted many top stars of poker as well as English, French and U.S players like Michael Tureniec, Delfish, Sam Trickett, Claire Renaut, JP Kelly, Dan Harrington, Andy Black or the world poker champion Vanessa Hellebuyck. But after the competition, the coronation was back in the hands of the local player Niall Smyth.

Smyth accomplished a major feat at this event as even after having played poker face to a professional player during the final heads'up, he emerged victorious from the confrontation. Indeed, after the elimination of the Irish Bialla McCann at the 8th place, John Eames at the 7th place, Rob Taylor (6th), Karl Rudwall (5th), Savela Aleksi (4th) and Cahill Seamus (3rd); Smyth faced the champion of the World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris 2004, Surinder Sunar during the final match, a confrontation that offered to him to win the biggest title of his career. After 4 hours of very hectic play, Niall Smyth finally seized the victory with a premium of € 550,000, while Surender Sunar finished runner up and pocketed € 290,000. The young champion also won a bonus of € 100,000 which means that he pocketed a total gain of € 650,000.
