Cataclysm in Japan: Mobilization of poker players to help

For a week, the whole world followed closely the evolution of the disaster in Japan that has just been struck by a violent earthquake and a tsunami killing many people and causing extensive damage. Currently, the country is in a very sad situation and with the threat of a nuclear crisis, people there are living an anxious situation. The poker community hasn't remained insensitive to such tragedies. Indeed, the terrible event took place at the same time as the beginning of the final of The Big Event at the Bicycle Casino. Players were then able to watch live this tragedy. The two finalists Joe Hachem and his opponent in the final duel Victor Ramdim even proposed to postpone the rest of the tournament at this time.

Faced with this tragedy, even fans of online poker were also mobilized to plan actions to assist the victims of the disaster. Thus, some players like Shane Schleger and Chino Rheem encouraged people to make donations and publish the phone number of the American Red Cross on twitter. Others didn't hesitated to offer rewards for each person sending the text message "REDCROSS" to the benefit of the Red Cross, Justin Smith decided to award $ 1 to all those who publish the number of the Red Cross, Some online poker rooms established charity tournaments to help the victims and the poker star Maria Ho promised to offer a place in a $ 300 buy-in tournament with $ 50,000 guaranteed prize pool the person who will show her the bill of his participation in the SMS "REDCROSS”. It is certain that other players and poker club will still contribute to this humble cause.
