European Poker Awards: Players to compete for the trophy are known
As usual, the prize distribution ceremony of the European Poker Awards will be held on the sidelines of the European Finals of Poker which is usually held at the Aviation Club de France (ACF). This year's event is scheduled to take place from February 1st to 16th, 2011 and the awards ceremony is scheduled for February 13th. And already, the list of nominees for each award category is known. Unfortunately, French poker players have all missed the chance to be among the nominees despite their good performances throughout the year. The young British Jake Cody will compete for the award of Player of the Year 2010, the Newcomer of the Year and Best Performance in a tournament of the year. Liv Boeree and Annette Obrestad will contest for the trophy European Player of the Year. Note that Boeree is also selected to be elected to the price Revelation of the year.
Some notable players who made great achievements in 2010 are also among the nominees like the November Nine Fillipo Candio and the Scotsman David Vamplev who are both selected for two categories of awards and the Portuguese Fernando Brito. To the surprise of the poker community, the organizers of the European Poker Awards selected the anonymous player Isildur1 for the trophy Online Poker Player of the year. This player is a mysterious master at High stakes games and he made talk about him throughout 2010. Apparently, the public could finally see his true identity during the ceremony if the jury of eight members among whom are three French representatives who are Fabrice Soulier, Bruno Benveniste and Lucille Denos, decides to award him the trophy.
