Hitting The Nuts: Another facet of poker played in the cinema

It is not only in the reality that poker is the front page of media with countless tournaments that take place almost all the year in several cities worldwide. Similarly, in the 7th art, the discipline inspires filmmakers. For evidence, there were among others films like the Cincinnati Kid, Maverick, The Rounders, Lucky You, Deal, The Grand, Casino Royale or the latest King of Poker of last year in Asia. Currently, a new poker movie is the top of the U.S. box office. Featured for the fist time at the film festival of Cincinnati last weekend, "Hitting The Nuts" directed by Joe Boyd is a comedy about poker.

In summary, it is a satire that tells the story, the true, of the "Scott County Series of Poker", an annual illegal poker championship in a small town in Indiana (Scottsburg), with quirky and pleasant characters where once a year, residents of Scott County meet themselves in Scottsburg to participate in an annual poker tournament. Thus, the winner wins a seat for the Main Event of the World Series of Poker. The main protagonists of the tournament are the preacher of the town, an old sexy waitress, a young poker prodigy, a gay funeral director and a young farmer of Amish in the hope of a better life for him, his wife and his seven children who is played by the director Boyd himself. In short, this offbeat and funny movie about poker will surely attract many spectators.
