Jake Cody: A WPT title after an EPT coronation

Almost unknown in the discipline one year ago, the young British poker player Jake Cody continues to astonish the world of card game and this, since his victory at the European Poker Tour Deauville. The young prodigy of online poker of 21 years has indeed relapsed winning £ 273,783 at the World Poker Tour in London last week. That shows he is good by performing in a space of a few months what a lot of poker professionals achieve after several years. The question now is, is Jake Cody the third man who will follow in the footsteps of Gavin Griffin and Roland de Wolfe who are currently the only two players to have won a title in each of the three most prestigious circuit competitions ? The future will tell us the answer.

To return to the World Poker Tour London Poker Classic, 171 players were lined up at the starting point of this tournament of £ 5,000 buy-in for a prize pool of £ 820,800 overall. A quite skinny turnout for an event of this size due to many events of the same scale taking place at the same time as the European Poker Tour Vilamoura or the Partouche Poker Tour. However, many world-renowned major players were present at this first visit in London of this month like Phil Ivey, Bruno Fitoussi, Tony G, Dave Ulliot and Erik Seidel. The next step of the World Poker Tour which is Borgata Poker Open in Atlantic City, New Jersey will be held from September 18th to 23rd, 2010.
