Online poker : Wrath of pros players against the vice president of Commerce Casino

After heated debate, held in the House Financial Services Committee last July, about the bill HR 2267, the vice chairman of the Commerce Casino, which was firmly opposed against the bill by Barney Frank, expressed arguments that have rattled many professional poker players. Indeed, Malkasian widely criticized this bill and asked committee members to vote against unless it undergone many changes. Malkasian said that figures showing the revenue to be collected with the legalization of the bill were based on and use false studies and the regulations proposed by HR 2276 are inadequate to govern in the best ways the related tasks. Faced with such remarks, the community of online poker published an open letter to the attention of Tom Malkasian on a newly created website.

The open letter noted that it is quite deplorable that a member of the poker world could make a speech as criticism of poker. The legalization of online poker in the United States will offer choice to players, always according the content of the letter, and that the bill HR 2276 provides a more formal and safe framework for players. It will also establish an open market to competition and cheaper. Thus, a number of more than 1,100 poker enthusiasts, some of whom are professional players like Doyle Brunson, Chris Ferguson, Greg Raymer, Mori Eskandani or Tom Dwan, signed a petition asking Malkasian to rectify his position. They even vision boycotting the poker room of Commerce Casino.
