Poker Run: A small crowd for this year's edition

The poker rally on boats or "Poker Run" held annually in Canada took place last Saturday. The number of competitors decreased considerably compared to previous years. If we speak only of the race of last year, the number of vessels decreased by 50% which means ten vessels only if there were twenty in 2009. The decline in attendance is explained by various reasons according to Dave Bodner, representing the Lions Club of Rockland, partner of the American Association Poker Runs, organizer of the event. Indeed, on one hand, he argued that this was due to a bad choice of date, this 2010 edition of Poker Run was held a month earlier than usual. On the other hand, the World Series of Poker (WSOP), which still stand at this moment have also drawn many players. Bodner has not also failed to mention the economic crisis as a factor decreasing the number of participants in this poker boat adventure.

Nevertheless, the fortunate participants in Poker Run of this year were happy thanks to a very good weather and a perfect organization of the event. The organizers, the passengers, overall adventurers, lived a great and friendly atmosphere. From Marina Casino of Lac Leamy in Hull, until their return to the same place, poker lovers have crossed the Ottawa River. They also made a stop at Mill Park, in Rockland. The winner of the event has been known in Marina Casino of Lac Leamy after five stages of competition.
