Fight against addiction in France : New measures for sites that obtained their licenses
Sites of gambling in France and the French Government reinforces their strategy to master the problems of pathological gambling. According to the National Health and Medical Research (INSERM), on over 200 surveys and studies on gambling online, it show that 1% to 2% of European online players suffer of addiction problems. To fight to this, sites of poker and sports betting approved by the Authority for Regulation of Online Games (ARJEL) in France will contain banners leading players to the site-info-service, an advice site placed by the Department of Health and posted by the authority of the National Institute for Prevention and Health Education (INPES). Online gaming sites have an annual duty to acquaint their members about the money they have spent so they can exercise self-discipline and better manage of their budgets.
In addition, the government encourages those who show symptoms of addiction of the game to hold for at least one week and not go to on a gambling site like online poker site to mitigate or eliminate their problem. A list in which names of banned games is mentioned has been established by the Ministry of the Interior. Thus, a player can call the number 01 82 24 60 56 for an appointment with the Central service of races and games who, after the call will complete a letter of prohibition in game for a minimum period of three years and register in the file of banned games.
