Pierrelaye, France : An illegal poker tournament discovered

Admittedly, poker is a very popular game and there are those who let themselves be carried away by their passion and are sometimes participating in illegal tournaments. Moreover, seeing the enthusiasm of people for this card game, many people went to trespass the law to play illegal poker tournament. In Pierrelaye, in the department of Val d'Oise, in France, the police of Cergy nad discovered such event on the night of June 10th to 11th, 2010. The police have already investigated about the holding of a poker tournament in the club restaurant located on the Boulevard du Havre, Pierrelaye since March. It appears that the managers have even made commercials promising beautiful prizes for winners to attract the attention of players. So that night, police raided there and they surprised the players in full play, they were beginning a game of Texas Hold'em.

The managers and employees have been arrested for a more thorough investigation but the employees were released at the end because ultimately, the charges for organizing illegal gambling imply only the managers of the institution. The two women and a man accused in the illegal part will have to appear in front of the Criminal Court of Pontoise to accept their mistake and could face a sentence of 3 years imprisonment with a fine worth € 45,000 to € 100,000 because of that acts and the advertisements they have done.
