Last week, teams from England, Australia, Brazil, China, U.S.A, Greece, Israel, Vietnam clashed on the table of Limit Hold'em, No Limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha at the opening tournament of the World Poker Team. Illustrious poker stars were present if we only mention players like David Benyamine, the great Doyle Brunson, Eli Elezra, Johnny Chan and Tony G. The eight team captains clashed on the game table and during the game, each team have the right to substitute players following their strategies. The competition was scheduled to last only one day but the battle was so fierce that starting around 1:30 in the afternoon, the championship continued until 8 a.m the next day.

The team of Vietnam was the first to leave the table and was soon followed by those of Australia and Greece. The heads'up final was played between China and Brazil. China was represented by Chan, Chiu Ho, Rich Zhu, Chau Giang, Winifred Yu and Derek Cheung, while the Brazilian team was composed by Christian Kruel, Juliano Maesano, Leandro Pimentel, Rodrigo Ramos and Caprioli. After a lively game time, China was crowned champion and win the big prize of $ 300,000 of the event and Brazil left the tournament with $ 100,000 and for its place as runner-up. Poker enthusiasts have been spoiled because they were able to follow the live transmission of the event on internet and for those who hadn't enjoy the competition, they could follow the tournament on FSN channels in a later date.
