Poker pros : The upward career of Jason Mercier
He is an American, a native and resident of Florida, only 24 years old and was crowned champion at the NAPT High Roller Mohegan Sun last April. His name is Jason Mercier. He is a fond of poker who totaled throughout his career almost five million dollars in earnings. But what path he followed to reach so high ? At the age of fifteen years, Jason has discovered poker with friends and it was during attendance at Florida Atlantic University that he fell in love with this card game. To better live this passion, he dropped basketball which discipline he was a teacher. It is clear that this was a right decision for him.
Initially, the young man had little interest to tournament, which did not, however, unable him to participate in an European Poker Tour. And little by little, he reached the top of this circuit at the EPT San Remo. This time, he said goodbye to his studies in mathematics to become a professional poker player. Constantly present in the major live tournaments and online high stakes, he marked a preference for Pot Limit Omaha cash games and observers have found in him an aggressive game. If we do not talk about his recent NAPT title, his record already includes an EPT title and a WSOP bracelet. Now he dreams of winning a WPT title, a legitimate ambition which could likely let him climb into the ranks of heavyweights of poker such Gavin Griffin.
