World Poker Tour: A step in the United Kingdom for this season
London's reputation for live poker is evident. There is a certain time that the magazine Bluff Europe, one of the biggest European poker magazine, has claimed London as the first poker destination in the Old Continent before the Irish capital. It is therefore not a coincidence if the World Poker Tour arrives in the United Kingdom. This first step in the English territory is called WPT Poker Classic, the tournament will run from August 30th to September 5th and will be held at Palm Beach, the casino of May Fair Hotel, located in London's West End. The main event of £ 5,300 entry fee will be opened to 400 players, qualifications to the Main Event via online and live satellites will be also opened for those who don't want to pay directly the buy-in of £ 5,300.
"London is a great poker destination and it has always been a major objective of our expansion," said the President of the WPT Adam Pliska. "We are delighted to have found some amazing partners at Palm Beach Casino, Genting United Kingdom and The May Fair Hotel London. It will be a WPT event highly anticipated by the international calendar. "The winner of the WPT Poker Classic London will also receive the first cash prize, a title WPT bracelet and a WPT Package for the grand finale WPT World Championship, which will conclude the season in June 2011.
