Closing of the EPT : Gael Monfils replaces Sebastien Chabal
The attention of impassioned of poker are recently focused on the end of the last season of the European Poker Tour (EPT) which takes place in the Principality of Monaco. The first two days passed have seen fighting in the “Salle des Etoiles” several hundred players. As usual, many international stars have taken the flight to go on the Cote d'Azur. The world of football, popular music and tennis have their own representatives, including skilled players. A new presence has, however distinguished. This is the French tennis star, Gael Monfils. It was his first experience in major poker tournament, but he is conscious that he is dealing with big opponents.
Those with whom he will face are called Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer, many world champions, Daniel Negreanu, Joe Hachem, Peter Eastgate and Joe Cada, the latest winner in title of the WSOP, Phil Ivey, the best player of the time in the world with his friends used in parts of higher limits like Patrick Antonius, Gus Hansen, and Boris Becker, to name only the most famous. The presence of Gael Monfils is explained by the absence of Sebastien Chabal, rugby player who was supposed to represent their sponsor and organizer of the tournament but was unable to come. The challenge of this tennisman is then to cut a path through the large wolves of poker and his goal is to win a victory or at least earn a respectable place to honor the tennis world.
