Online Poker: The blockages in Estonia could be raised in 2011
Some online poker players in Estonia may have believed a joke since the country's authorities have blocked access to online poker rooms whose servers are based on Estonian soil. Indeed, since April 1st, it became more restrictive to play online poker in the country especially since the choice has significantly decreased. Access to major poker sites has become impossible, the Estonian players should just play on small sites and the hope to participate in international online tournaments dimension disappears at the same time. The Estonian players are obviously frustrated by the many obstacles in recent years.
Imre Leibold, Estonian professional poker player said: "The possibility that online poker game can be limited is not good news for us”. He said even pro players as he, because of this measure, can move abroad in places where the laws of online games are less restrictive. Fortunately, the Estonian government will perhaps turn down the issue, but only time will tell. Because the authorities insisted that these barriers are only temporary pending before the establishment of law about online game and details of the licensing system. Once the new rules ready, probably in 2011, the blockades will be lifted but only if these sites are ready to comply with new regulations.
