EPT San Remo: An impressive field

Poker enthusiasts around the world have packed-up to visit the beautiful Italian coastal town of San Remo, place where the last stage of the season 6 of the European Poker Tour before the grand finale in Monte Carlo is held. In Season 5, San Remo tournament has attracted an impressive number of 1,177 players generating a colossal prize pool of € 5,7130,300. And the European Poker Tour San Remo will not have an influx less than last year because 585 players have landed in the casino of San Remo during day1. This already large turnout could be even more impressive when we consider that many players from the United Kingdom who had already planned their trips had abandoned their departure at the last moment following the volcanic activity happening in Iceland during this time. Yes, paradoxical as it may seem, the ash flow from an Icelandic volcano give rise in the cancellation of many scheduled flights from Britain and other airports in Northern Europe.

299 players came out unscathed from this first day with the Russian Alexey Rybin leading the chip leader because he holds 213,100 chips. He is closely followed by the Italian Manuel Coppola with 212,000 chips. They are the only two players to have completed over 200,000 chips. Among the notable players who survived, we also noted Isabelle Mercier (106,500), Maxim Lykov (85,000), Anthony Lellouche (84,400), Harrison Gimbel (64,900).
