"La Tueuse": The film will be broadcast on Arte in April
It is rare to see a French film which speaks about poker. Films about poker are the specialty of producers from Hollywood, but it is done with the film "La Tueuse” (The woman killer). Rather, it is a movie which relates the world of poker; it has just obtained the First Prize at the International Festival of television creation of Luchon. Its director, Rodolphe Tissot, which also endorses the cap of the screenwriter, signs here his first movie. Poker is a milieu that the director knows well for having played long time before the popularization of the game in France. The TV movie talks about poker through a woman who discovers her talent for poker and distresses succession of defeats to her opponents.
This woman becomes a real dependent and she was trapped in the infernal cycle of addiction. She neglects her family life, borrow money from her friends, who bring all their money for playing on one hand only, she sell her organs for honoring her gambling debts. In this film, the director shows us a portrait of a drug addict ready to do anything for her dose; she will dump her husband, her children, and her work. The daily of this woman will become a formidable path crosses that leave no respite to her heroine. "La tueuse" will be broadcast on Arte after 3 months, on April the 9th, 2010, at 8:30 p.m.
