EMOP Gran Canaria: The 2nd season dominated by Maciej Lipny
The second stage of the season II of the European Masters Of Poker (EMOP) proceeded in the Casino Las Palmas of Gran Canaria which already lodged the finale of the Spanish Poker Tour. The tournament joined a field of 288 poker players, Scandinavians for the majority. The final table accommodated four Finns, two Swedes, one Dane and the Pole Maciej Lipny who gained the first price. The prize pool of this step reached 288,000 Euros. Maciej Lipny dominated completely the tournament because he held his place of chip leader until the end. At the time of the final head’s up, he eliminated in only 10 minutes of game the Finn Henri Ovasta.
Maciej Lipny took down the first price of a value of 66,240 Euros while Henri Ovasta received 39,744 Euros as a runner-up. And once again, Poland is at the honor because Lipny succeeded to Krzysztof Grubka, victorious of the tournament of Malta 2009; two other events of this season II were also conquered by Poles. The Finn Mika Nyyssönen is placed in the third place and pocket the sum of 25,920 Euros, followed by Reijo Antilla with 25,920 Euros; two other Finns were respectively placed at the 8th and the 9th place, a Dane in the 5th place and two Swedes followed each other on the 6th and the 7th place. The next edition of the EMOP will be held of the 25th to the 28th of March, 2010 in the Estoril Casino of Lisbon in Portugal, in the banks of the Atlantic.
